College Readiness Committee

Purpose or Function: The College Readiness Committee will review policies, analyze data, and explore best practices for supporting TAMU-CC students who are identified as not college-ready in reading, writing, and/or mathematics, as well as pursue additional initiatives related to the college readiness of all TAMU-CC students.  This committee advises the Office of Student Success and provides recommendations related to college readiness to the Associate Vice President for Student Success.

Membership: The Director of College Readiness and Academic Support serves as the chair of the committee. The remaining membership of the College Readiness Committee reflects the understanding that faculty and staff play critical roles in support of college readiness.

• The membership includes representatives from the following areas: Academic Affairs, University Registrar; Planning, Analytics, Institutional Research, and Strategic Initiatives; Disability Services; English faculty; and Mathematics faculty. These representatives are appointed by the area supervisor or department chair for renewable two-year terms.
• The committee also includes an appointed representative from the Student Government Association’s First-Year Council, serving for one year.
• The following voting ex-officio members also serve on the committee: First-Year Writing Program Coordinator, Undergraduate Program Coordinator of Mathematics, Student Engagement and Success Associate Dean of Students, Director of Student Success Data and Technology, Assistant Director of Academic Advising and Coaching, Director of University Seminar and Retention, Assistant Director for Tutoring & Learning Services, Director of Athletic Academic Services, Director of Academic Testing, and Director of Recruitment and Admissions.
