Transfer Students

New transfer students must complete Islander Launch orientation before registering for classes at TAMU-CC. SUMMER AND FALL 2026 registration will be available in March 2026.

To complete the orientation registration process, students must:

Be admitted for the upcoming term
Set up the Island ID/password
Confirm access to Islander email (IslandID@islander.tamucc.edu)
REGISTER HERE using the Islander email address and Island ID password

Transfer students have two options for completing their orientation requirement:

virtual course, completed at your own pace
June 2 in-person event. Do not make travel plans until your event date is confirmed. Please see the draft schedule, which is subject to change.

Frequently Asked Questions

What must I do before I can register for orientation? To complete the orientation registration process, students must:
- Be admitted for the upcoming term
- Claim their Island ID/password and set up Duo 2-factor authentication
- Use the Island ID/password to access their Islander email
How much does it cost to register for Islander Launch? The $100 orientation fee is deferred at the time of reservation and included in the tuition bill to be paid later. The fee is non-refundable, even if you do not complete the orientation or decide not to enroll at TAMU-CC.
What does the orientation fee cover? The fee covers all costs associated with offering the required orientation program.
Do I have to repeat the requirement if I completed an orientation program in a different semester? If you have been readmitted to the university and attended classes in a previous semester, you do not have to complete orientation again.
Is it possible for me to register for classes without completing orientation? No, a registration hold is placed on new student accounts, which will be removed when you attend the Islander Launch (orientation) event.
Am I required to complete orientation? Most new students are required to complete orientation. You can review the groups at Am I required to complete orientation?

Is there a specific day or time I should log in to complete the course? No, the course is asynchronous, so you can log in and complete the course at any time or day that works best for you.

How do I get my hold lifted? After you register for orientation, an automated confirmation message will be sent to your Islander email with instructions for completing the requirement. It can take up to 24 hours for you to have access to the Canvas course portal.
1. Log in to the Canvas portal using your Island ID/password.
2. Under Courses, select Islander Launch Orientation.
3. Plan to spend around 60 minutes completing the modules.
4. Score 100% on the quiz to complete the required course.
5. The hold on your account will be removed automatically within 24 hours.

How do I register for classes? After completing your required course, schedule an appointment with your Academic Advisor to choose classes that apply to your degree plan.
